- Manifesting History: Reading the Communist Manifesto -

Starting in January we're going to be hosting a reading group/class on the Manifesto of the Communist Party by Karl Marx and Frederich Engels. Boris Smelov will lead us through the entire thing line by line, exploring what the hell Marx and Engels were talking about, because half the words in it don't mean to us what they meant to them. We'll talk about the historical context in which they were writing, whom they were talking to and why, and how people have interpreted them since. No prior knowledge about socialism necessary to attend, all ideologies and levels of experience welcome.

This'll happen the first, second, and third Tuesdays of the month, from 6PM to 8PM, for however long it takes us to work through the entire (not very long) Communist Manifesto. We're starting on January 6th, in the Birch Room at New City Center (3104 16th Ave S Minneapolis). Room for about 12 attendees. We do ask that anyone who signs up commits to attending every class as far as is reasonable.
